Treat your ears this summer with a series of five informal music appreciation sessions.
Unwind after work with music as below:
Session 1 (25 July)- La Mer, Debussy. In his centenary year, listen to the music and decide for yourself whether Debussy is a romantic composer.
Session 2 (1 August)- Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles. This folk-inspired melody enchants with its quirky rhythms and lyrics.
Session 3 (8 August)- Brandenburg no. 5, J.S. Bach- Race along with the harpsichord in this exciting piece by the (grand)father of harmony.
Session 4 (15 August)- Romeo and Juliet, Prokofiev. Decide whether you are a Montague or a Capulet, and whether you like the version by Robbie Williams.
Session 5 (22 August) - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Andrews Sisters. This feel good song rounds off the music appreciation club. Enjoy the skill of the Andrews Sisters and compare to modern artists such as Christina Aguilera.
